Grace Tame’s face says it all in photo with Morrison

2021 Australian of the Year Grace Tame posed for photos with Prime Minister Scott Morrison in Canberra this morning, looking distinctly unimpressed to be in his company.

The photos, featuring Tame and her fiancé Max Heerey, alongside Morrison and his wife Jenny, have been spreading wildly across social media feeds.

The meeting between the Australian of the Year and the Prime Minister appeared frosty, with Tame seemingly refusing to look directly at Morrison after shaking his hand, and walking away swiftly after the photos were taken.

Since rising to national prominence in 2021 for her advocacy for survivors of sexual abuse, Tame has roundly criticised Scott Morrison for his government’s response to Brittany Higgins’ rape allegation and other issues relating to the safety of women.

On Monday, before the photo was taken, Tame tweeted an image about her two days in Canberra that said: “On second thoughts let’s not go to Canberra. It’s a silly place”.
