Kerry Chikarovski’s new board appointment

Former NSW Liberal leader Kerry Chikarovski will be the second woman to join the board of NSW Rugby Union, in an appointment announced Tuesday that follows Sally Loane’s 2008 lead.

Chikarovski currently chairs the NSW Women’s Rugby Union, is continually seeking to improve awareness of women’s involvement in the game, and is an all-round passionate supporter of the code.

Now a government relations specialist, Chikarovski retired from politics in 2003 and has continued as a speaker, master of ceremonies and event facilitator. She has served as a Trustee of the Sydney Cricket and Sports Ground Trust, currently sits on the board of the Humpty Dumpty Foundation and is an Ambassador for the Eggtober Foundation and Australian Indigenous Education Foundation (AIEF).

NSW Rugby Union President Tim Gavin and Chairman Nick Farr-Jones said Chikarovski will bring a wide range of skills and energy to the board.

Loane was appointed in 2008 before being nominated in 2010 to join the Waratahs Rugby Board as the NSW Rugby representative. The former journalist and broadcaster is currently director of media at Coca-Cola Amatil and a director on the board of the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.

Chikarovski will serve as NSW Rugby Union’s sole woman on the board, which also includes Nick Farr-Jones (Chairman), Geoff Garland, Arthur Laundy, Rob Millner, Paul Timmins, Peter Veenstra and Bruce Worboys.
