NAWIC appoint Kristine Scheul and Alison Price as chair & vice chair

In a move to further the National Association of Women in Construction‘s (NAWIC) mission of achieving an equitable construction industry, two women have been appointed National Chair and Vice Chair of the association.

Kristine Scheul will take on the position of National Chair at NAWIC, while Alison Price has been appointed Vice Chair.

The NAWIC was formed in 1995 and sets out to empower women in the construction and related industries to reach their full potential and fully participate.

Scheul joined NAWIC in 2007 and has served on the National Board since 2017. She was instrumental in helping establish the NAWIC ACT Chapter, where she served as President for 2 years. Scheul has extensive experience in the construction industry and has been the Construction Partner at Meyer Vandenberg Lawyers for several years. She currently heads the Legal and Contracts team with Transport Canberra City Services.

Price has served as NAWIC Queensland Chapter President for three years, where she was instrumental in establishing the ‘Women on Tools’ Committee and finalised the establishment of the Northern Territory as a standalone chapter of NAWIC.

Both women are passionate about the role of women in construction. Scheul has mentored and been mentored by some of the most talented women in the industry, while Price promotes flexible work practices for her team and actively offers opportunities for entry level applicants from any background to build careers in the industry.

“I am both very pleased and honoured to accept the position of Chair of NAWIC which will continue until the AGM in November 2020,”  Scheul said of her appointment.

“Based on my discussions with Alison so far, leading the Board through the next year and a half is going to be a rewarding collaboration.”
