The former Labor leader told Alan Jones that apart from rallying against the discrimination of “white people” and “men” he will fight for “civilisational values”.
Considering this is the man who lost his column in the Financial Review after using his poison pen to publicly deride a number of Australian women, including the 2015 Australian of the Year Rosie Batty, it’s a stretch to imagine him as a credible advocate for a more ‘civil’ world.
Similarly his twitter feed hardly reveals any appreciation for respect or dignity in public discourse.
The PM, Scott Morrison, stooping to such blatant sexism in relation to Pamela Anderson is simply base. The fact it comes amid his strange pitch to convince voters he is the most ‘fair dinkum’ man in the whole land makes it worse still.

It’s a blatant grab to the lowest common denominator. The fact he ventured it reveals a lack of respect for women he will inevitably seek to deny. The man has daughters! And a wife! How could he possibly disrespect women??
The answer is by going on a radio show and ‘joking’ about his ‘mates’ wanting to get close to Pamela Anderson.
(Gosh I wonder why the Liberal party has a problem with women?)
The spectacle that has been Barnaby Joyce in 2018 is cause for genuine despair. From news of the pregnancy that produced his fifth child, to the train-wreck ‘tell-all’, to the allegations of sexual harassment, it’s a scenario in which there have been no winners. Today it seems Joyce’s woes may continue.

The eight-member electorate selection committee tasked with re-endorsing his preselection were unable to unanimously support his candidacy. It’s been reported by Sky News that this is because some of the preselectors are concerned there are “more skeletons” that might be revealed.
Now call me naive but if there are any more skeletons in Joyce’s life – no matter how innocuous – can he please step back? Australia already knows more about his private life than we ever needed.
And then we arrive at Donald Trump, the man struggling to fathom why people don’t like it when he calls his daughter ‘beautiful’.
“Now I don’t know if they’ll say this is nepotism, but the truth is she’s a very, very — you’re not allowed to use the word ‘beautiful’ anymore when you talk about women, you’re not allowed, no, no, it’s politically incorrect,” Newsweek reported he said.
“I will never call a woman beautiful again, and every man here, every man here, raise your hand, you will never say your wife, your girlfriend, anybody is beautiful, right?”
It’s depressing to consider there is an adult alive who cannot grasp the appropriate setting for complimenting a woman’s physical appearance. When it’s the leader of the free world? PASS ME THE DOONA.
