NSW Govt launches new initiative to help empower women in male-dominated fields

A new mentoring initiative by the NSW government wants to hear women’s career stories and inspire other women in the process.

The Berijiklian Government hopes the new online showcase will build confidence in women pursuing careers in male-dominated fields. It will feature supportive messages, career advice and stories from a diverse range of women will feature.

Called the NSW Inspirational Women Online Showcase, it’s forms part of the NSW Government’s commitment to help tackle gender inequalities by aiming to prioritise the participation of women. This is a part of the Government’s new Women’s Strategy.

Minister for Women, Tanya Davies (pictured above) is looking to the public to express interest in the project by submitting a video.

“Giving women access to information, support and networks is vital to ensure they see a broad range of career opportunities available to them and can also help make re-entry into the workforce after having a family less overwhelming,” she said.

Videos for the project can be submitted up until January 31 and filmed simply on a smartphone. They will then be reviewed to ensure they offer a diverse range of insights and accomplishments. They will be shared on the Women NSW website and social media via the hashtag #inspirationalwomenNSW.
