A huge loss to the SBS: Lee Lin Chin’s remarkable (and hilarious) legacy

Lee Lin Chin
Veteran television broadcaster, Lee Lin Chin spectacularly eclipsed news of the Fairfax/Nine merger yesterday, announcing her shock resignation from SBS.

In an interview with Ten Daily’s Sandra Sully, Chin said the time had come for her to walk away from the network which she had spent nearly four decades at.

“There’s not one big reason, there’s many small to medium-sized reasons, which for the time being I wish to keep to myself but may talk about one day,” Chin revealed.

“One reason I shall reveal however, is that working two days a week didn’t give me enough time to devote to the pub and re-reading the complete works of Shakespeare. So now that I work zero days that issue has been addressed.”

She stressed however, that she was not retiring just finishing up as a newsreader for the SBS. “Trust me, I’m not done yet,” she wrote on Twitter soon after.

Chin’s unique presenting style, eclectic wardrobe and searing humour earned her a cult following in Australia and many social media page dedications including Facebook’s Lee Lin Chin’s Asymmetrical Outfits.

Her recurring role on SBS’s skit show, The Feed cemented her as a legend of television and led to a Gold Logie nomination in 2016.

Below, we honour some of Lee Lin Chin’s most memorable (and just fucking brilliant) Tweets:
