Harvey Weinstein wants to be remembered as the real victim

Harvey Weinstein
Disgraced Hollywood mogul, Harvey Weinstein has been accused by more than 70 women over the past three years of sexual misconduct. He is due to go on trial next month on multiple charges of rape and sexual assault and was the single biggest catalyst for the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements reverberating the world-over.

And yet, somehow, inexplicably, Harvey Weinstein believes he deserves to be remembered as the true victim.

In a recent interview with the New York Post, Weinstein lamented: “I feel like the forgotten man.

“I made more movies directed by women and about women than any film-maker, and I’m talking about 30 years ago. I’m not talking about now when it’s vogue. I did it first. I pioneered it.

“It all got eviscerated because of what happened. My work has been forgotten.”

Weinstein went as far as to boast about the lucrative opportunity he’d afforded actress Gwyneth Paltrow — one of his alleged victims.

In response, twenty-three of Weinstein’s alleged victims penned a powerful statement accusing the producer of “trying to gaslight society.”

Actors Rosanna Arquette, Ashley Judd and Rose McGowan, who led the initial allegations against Weinstein, joined Jessica Barth, Zoe Brock, Rowena Chiu, Caitlin Dulany, Dawn Dunning, Lucia Evans, Louisette Geiss, Louise Godbold, Larissa Gomes, Dominique Huett, Katherine Kendall, Jasmine Lobe, Sarah Ann Masse, Emily Nestor, Tomi-Ann Roberts, Erika Rosenbaum, Melissa Sagemiller, Lauren Sivan, Melissa Thompson and Paula Williams.

“Harvey Weinstein is trying to gaslight society again,” the women said in the statement, supplied to the Los Angeles Times.

“He says in a new interview he doesn’t want to be forgotten. Well, he won’t be. He will be remembered as a sexual predator and an unrepentant abuser who took everything and deserves nothing. He will be remembered by the collective will of countless women who stood up and said enough. We refuse to let this predator rewrite his legacy of abuse.”

On Monday morning, several women took their exposure of Weinstein further with Rose McGowan bravely tweeting:

“I didn’t forget you, Harvey. My body didn’t forget you. I wish it could.”

While Rosanna Arquette, who formerly accused Weinstein for the collapse of her acting career after she developed post-traumatic stress, said he was deliberately “playing the sympathy card”.

Weinstein’s next court date is set for January 6 where he will face charges of predatory sexual assault, criminal sex acts and rape.
