The state’s peak body for gender equity, prevention of violence against women and women’s health and wellbeing, made the announcement on Monday, saying Kovac will help them achieve their short and long term goals.
Kovac has been director of her own communication, leadership and justice consultancy, Kovac & Co since 2014 and is a regular commendatory across multiple media platforms in Australian including The Age, Crikey, ABC Radio Melbourne and Women’s Agenda.
“I am very excited to join GEN VIC and be a part of the team to drive the achievement of its strategic goals,” Kovac said in a statement.
“I want to build on the great work that the Board and team have already undertaken, and create sustainable change across this great state for the betterment of all Victorians.”
Kovac has achieved numerous victories in her career. As a lawyer at Slater & Gordon, she was part of the team assisting Amnesty International in the MV Tampa case. Ten years ago, she founded a national education program teaching young people about freedom and dignity through sport called Human Rights are Aussie Rules.
