Overall, 50 percent of all those surveyed by CNN want to see Trump impeached and removed, while 43 percent were opposed.
And a significant number of women are against his impeachment (34 per cent).
This latest survey backs other research conducted last month by Quinnipiac University, which found that 58 percent of women approved of the House’s impeachment inquiry, while just 39 percent of men backed it.
CNN said in a statement that the new poll “marks the first time that more than 60 percent of women have said they backed impeaching Trump and removing him from office.”
So clearly, there’s a gender gap in perception of this current president, and it’s pretty wide; 52 percent of men are happy with how the president is doing compared with 32 percent of women.

In September, House Speaker’s Nancy Pelosi launched the formal inquiry into Trump’s impeachment, following allegations Trump had pressured Volodymyr Zelenskiy to investigate the son of former Vice-President Joe Biden in exchange for millions of dollars in military aid.
It’s interesting to note the discrepancy in numbers between the various categories of people in the U.S. For instance, as a Washington Post and Schar School poll reported back in October this year that, “75 percent of nonwhite women said Congress (acted appropriately when it began the impeachment inquiry) of Trump, and 66 percent said Trump should be removed from office. Among white women, 58 percent said Congress should have begun an impeachment inquiry of the president, and 48 percent said he should be removed from office.”
These figures indicate varying opinions among population groups in the U.S, as the country wrestles into its third week of impeachment-related hearings, and surprising figures continue to arise from polls.
For instance, Polling Analyst Tim Malloy from Quinnipiac University claimed support for the president’s impeachment had actually dropped from 48% in late October to 45% a month later.
“The televised impeachment hearings haven’t had much of an effect on the president’s approval rating, or how voters feel about impeachment,” Malloy said. “The numbers still don’t look good for Trump, but they definitely haven’t gotten worse.”
So the latest survey from CNN shows us that far more women than men want Trump out. But that’s not surprising, is it?
Democratic frontrunner Elizabeth Warren was one of the first to publicly vouch for Trump’s removal from office. Back in April, after her constitutional reading of the highly controversial and highly anticipated Mueller Report, the Massachusetts Senator declared her support for impeachment.
“Congress has authority to prohibit a President’s corrupt use of his authority in order to protect the integrity of the administration of justice,” she said. “The correct process for exercising that authority is impeachment.”
Since then, the top female contender to be the 2020 Democratic Presidential Candidate has been on the road, consistently espousing her “constitutional responsibilities.”
“I took an oath of office,” she said as she spoke to voters in New Hampshire a few months ago. “As did everyone in Congress and part of that oath of office is the basic principle that no one is above the law. That includes the president of the United States. And if the House goes forward and sends an impeachment over to the Senate, then I will be there for the trial.”
