IAG gets two female board directors

IAG has significantly improved the representation of women on its board, after appointing Michelle Tredenick and Sheila McGregor as independent non-executive directors.

Michelle and Sheila become the third and fourth women on the board, which has expanded from eight to ten. Dr Helen Nugent AO was appointed to the board in December 2016, while Elizabeth Bryan was appointed as a director  in December 2014, and became Chairman in March 2016.

The appointments were announced by Elizabeth on Tuesday, who said the new directors will strengthen the IAB Board across customer satisfaction, business simplification and agility.

“Michelle and Sheila have extensive management experience in the application of rapidly-changing technology to business and, as well, bring with them skills in the important cultural areas of risk and governance,” she said.

IAG highlighted Michelle’s experience across insurance and other financial services in helping to introduce digital business and technology. Michelle also currently serves on the boards of the Bank of Queensland, Urbis and Cricket Australia.

Sheila is a partner at Gilbert + Tobin, and has  advised on some of Australia’s largest private and public sector organisations across complex legal, governance and technology issues. She is also a director of Crestone Holdings and the Australian Indigenous Chamber of Commerce.

Sheila resigned from the Seven West Media board suddenly in February 2017, when she was one of only two women on the board. At the time the board was waiting on an independent report into the conduct of Seven’s CEO Tim Worner, following revelations from former Seven employee Amber Harrison.
