Rebekha Sharkie

Seat: Mayo
Rebekha Sharkie is the current member for Mayo, and sits on the crossbench as a member of the Centre Alliance.

Sharkie was first elected to parliament in 2016, when she defeated Liberal member Jamie Briggs. At the time, she was part of the Nick Xenophon Team. In 2018, Sharkie resigned from the parliament during the Section 44 citizenship eligibility crisis. Sharkie later recontested the seat of Mayo, winning the seat at a 2018 by-election. The Nick Xenophon Team is now known as the Centre Alliance. She was re-elected again in 2019.

She is the first woman and the first non-Liberal member to represent Mayo.

Sharkie’s voting record is available on her website, where she says she is interested in local industries, protecting farming land, improving local health services and addressing youth unemployment. She has also been an advocate for climate action and greater transparency in politics.
