Kate Chaney is an independent candidate for the Liberal-held seat of Curtin.


Chaney, a corporate lawyer, has a background in business at Wesfarmers and the social impact and charity sector.


Her father and grandfather were politicians in the Liberal party.


She describes herself as economically “sensible” and socially progressive, and says she is open-minded about where good ideas come from and work collaboratively.


She says she has voted for a range of parties in the past and has been turned off by the politics of the major parties. Her policy areas include climate action, integrity in politics, sensible economic management and inclusion. Chaney’s campaign is supported by Climate 200.
