Astrid O’Neill

Astrid O’Neill

Seat: McMahon
Party: Greens
Astrid O’Neill is the Greens candidate for the Sydney metropolitan electorate of McMahon.

The seat (previously known as Prospect), has been held by incumbent Labor MP, Chris Bowen since it was established in 2010.

Having lived, raised her children and worked in Western Sydney for 40 years, O’Neill is passionate about facilitating social justice and environmental change in her electorate.

O’Neill says her experience coming to Australia as a non-English speaker while living in migrant camps and social housing has ignited her passion to close the wealth gap in Australia.

“This election we have a real opportunity to get enough Greens Senators elected across Australia to enable us to hold the balance of power,” she says.

By holding the balance of power, the Greens would be able to enact legislation that would fast track climate action, improvements to health care and education affordability, O’Neill says.
