Dr Ola Ziara and Dr Rachel Coghlan

Dr Ola Ziara is a Palestinian paediatrician and a humanitarian worker. She is a current Humphrey Fellow at Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University in the USA. Ola has worked in public health management with international humanitarian organisations in Gaza, as a paediatrician in the Gazan Ministry of Health, and as a teaching assistant at the Islamic University of Gaza’s Medical School. Ola aspires to support the Gazan healthcare system with quality medical care and to combat global health inequities and disparities. Dr Rachel Coghlan recently completed her PhD at the Centre for Humanitarian Leadership, Deakin University, researching palliative care in humanitarian crises with a focus on Gaza. She was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship in Non-Profit Leadership to spend time at Johns Hopkins University Center for Humanitarian Health in the USA in 2023. She is a palliative care physiotherapist in Melbourne and a Director of Palliative Care Australia. Rachel strives to spread empathy in living and in dying wherever in the world people are suffering.
