CS Energy’s Acting Head of Enterprise Governance, Risk and Compliance, Angela Watson, has been recognised as one of Australia’s top governance professionals, earning a coveted spot on the 2025 Governance Top 100. To mark the achievement, Watson’s name was recently featured on the NASDAQ Tower in Times Square, New York.
Since joining CS Energy in 2012, Angela’s career has spanned roles from Financial Supervisor at Callide Power Station to Company Secretary, and now to her current role leading Risk and Compliance. Along the way, she’s helped shape the way decisions are made across the business, embedding a more agile, risk- and compliance-informed culture.
“Good governance protects our social licence and creates real value,” says Watson. By focusing on education and engagement, she and her team are helping employees understand not just what governance requires, but why it matters, enabling them to innovate safely and take ownership of their work.
Watson has served on not-for-profit boards, lectured at university, and actively contributed to her local school, sporting clubs, and community groups, and believes “leadership is about personal connection,”.
The Governance Top 100 Award recognises the elite of the governance profession across ASX-listed companies, government, not-for-profits, and private organisations. Watson says the recognition is humbling: “It’s a career-defining moment that reflects years of dedication, resilience, and impact. I hope it inspires emerging professionals to see that governance is about shaping the future of responsible and sustainable business.”
