Australian fashion entrepreneur Pip Edwards has announced her departure from her co-founded company P.E. Nation, returning to the Australian denim brand Ksubi in a “true full-circle moment”.
Edwards, 44, was part of the Ksubi team in the early 2000s when the denim label was first gaining traction in Australia. Leaving P.E. Nation, a brand she co-founded in 2016, she said she is looking forward to making her return to Ksubi.
“As fate would have it, today I’m announcing my return to Ksubi as Creative Director—a true full-circle moment,” Edwards wrote on Instagram.
“From its inception, Ksubi has been at the core of the global cultural zeitgeist, thriving at the intersection of where fashion, art, and music meet.
“Having been part of the original crew 20 years ago, I’m so excited to join the talented team at Ksubi once again and contribute to their already impressive global success.”
Ksubi was hugely impactful for Edwards both in a professional and personal capacity. Edwards and one of Ksubi’s original co-founders, Dan Single, had a baby together in 2006. The pair split when their son was still a baby.
When she left Ksubi in the 2000s, Edwards began working at General Pants Co. where she first met Craig King, the now chief executive of Ksubi.
Edwards co-founded the $15 million athleisure label P.E. Nation in 2016 with her friend Claire Tregoning. The pair were working together at Australian label Sass & Bride, and wanted to disrupt the activewear market by realising their own vision of active streetwear, which leant heavily into 1980s style.
When they were building P.E. Nation, Edwards was 35 and was still working full-time as design director at General Pants. Not only that, she was a single mum, raising her now 18-year-old son Justice.
In March this year, Tregoning stepped down from her “day-to-day” role at P.E. Nation. Both Tregoning and Edwards, following their departure, will retain their shares in the company.
P.E. Nation recently reached B-Corp status, a global benchmark for sustainability, saying it had “been a full business, all staff, enormous initiative over the past 2 years”.
