An upcoming STEM careers fair is opening professional opportunities for women from all backgrounds, education levels and career stages.
The iSTEM Co. Women in STEM Careers Fair is a flagship event that aims to showcase the achievements of women in STEM and provide an opportunity to network and meet with potential employers.
It serves as a platform where companies can connect with talented individuals, explore diverse career opportunities and contribute to the advancement of women in STEM.
By participating, businesses have the chance to engage with a pool of highly skilled candidates actively seeking career opportunities, while showcasing their company’s vision, values, and unique culture.
Participants will get the chance to connect with Senior STEM leaders, employers, HR managers, recruiters as well as career coaches and STEM DEI consultants.
One of the program’s successful candidates, Maedeh Nadimi landed a role at South East Water after attending the 2022 Career Fair.
She tells Women’s Agenda that the fair “was an enlightening experience” and that it expanded her perspective on women in STEM, while also offering “a dynamic platform to engage with leading companies”.
Working as a Chemical Engineer, Nadimi has been with South East Water for two years now. She started out at the company as a chemical engineering intern and says her career growth is a result of attending the career fair and receiving continuous support from iSTEM Co.
“It was a valuable stepping stone,” Nadimi says, adding that working at South East Water has been instrumental in her growth.
“It has provided a supportive environment for professional development and allowed me to contribute meaningfully as a woman in STEM.”
Last year, the careers fair attracted 250 attendees with 20 STEM companies exhibiting including Telstra, Westpac, CSL, Metro Trains, Suburban Rail Loop and Arup.
Tickets are now available for this year’s event, taking place 9 May in Docklands, Victoria.
For any women who are thinking of attending, Nadimi encourages them to go for it.
“It is a platform for growth, networking and opportunity,” she says. “You never know which conversation could be the gateway to a fulfilling career path.”
