Women’s Agenda Editorial adheres to the code of ethics established by the Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance (MEAA), applicable across all platforms, including social media.
Our ethical obligations include:
- Reporting and interpreting truthfully, with accuracy, fairness, and the disclosure of all essential facts. We avoid suppressing relevant facts or distorting emphasis. Fair opportunity for reply is provided.
- Avoiding unnecessary emphasis on personal characteristics, such as race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, age, sexual orientation, family relationships, religious beliefs, or disabilities.
- Striving to attribute information to its source. When anonymity is requested, we assess the source’s motives and seek alternatives where possible. Confidentiality is respected when agreed upon.
- Ensuring personal interest, beliefs, gifts, or payments do not compromise accuracy, fairness, or independence. Relevant shareholdings are disclosed.
- Disclosing conflicts of interest that could affect our accuracy, fairness, or independence. Journalistic positions will not be used for personal gain.
- Maintaining editorial independence from advertising and other commercial considerations.
- Clearly disclosing any payments made for interviews or information.
- Using fair and honest methods to gather material, identifying ourselves and our employer. We do not exploit vulnerabilities or lack of media knowledge.
- Presenting images and sound accurately; disclosing any manipulations that may mislead.
- Avoiding plagiarism.
- Respecting privacy and private grief, and upholding the right to resist intrusion.
- Correcting errors fairly.
Corrections and Clarifications
When inaccuracies or defamatory material are identified, Agenda Media’s policy is to promptly remove and publicly acknowledge errors. Corrections are made to original stories and, where necessary, noted in our daily newsletter.
