Alicia Payne is the current member for Canberra, first elected to parliament in 2019 with the Labor Party. She is a social justice and climate action advocate in parliament and serves on the Joint Standing Committee on the NDIS and the Public Account and Audit Committee. Alicia also serves as Secretary of the Australian Labor Party First Nations Caucus Committee. Before entering parliament, Payne worked in policy research and as an advisor to Labor members including Lindsay Tanner, Bill Shorten and chief of Staff to Jenny Macklin.
