Catherine Dyson

Catherine Dyson

Seat: Cook
Party: Greens
Catherine Dyson is the Greens candidate for Cook, the seat held by Prime Minister Scott Morrison for the past 15 years.

The Liberal Party stronghold – named after Captain James Cook – was created in 1969, mostly out of the Liberal-leaning areas of neighbouring Hughes.

Dyson – a registered nurse and midwife and a qualified horticulturalist – believes in using proven scientific research to lead changes, particularly in relation to climate change.

Dyson – a long-time Sutherland Shire local – says in the midst of a “climate change emergency” threatening everything from food, economies and quality of life, “science has given us the answers”.

Her policies focus on quality healthcare, particularly in child and maternal health and secure, affordable housing.
