Dr Monique Ryan
Dr Monique Ryan is an independent candidate for the Liberal-held seat of Kooyong.
Dr Ryan has a professional background in paediatric neurology, most recently working as the head of the neurology department at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. She is one of several high-profile, female independents running in traditionally blue-ribbon seats.
2022 marks the first time Dr Ryan is standing for election, and she is up against incumbent federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, one of the most senior members of the Liberal party.
Dr Ryan was chosen as the community-backed independent by local groups and says her main policy issues are climate action, a federal integrity commission, stopping the “rorts”, gender equity, and health.
