Ged Kearney is the current Labor member for the seat of Cooper.


Kearney was first elected to parliament in 2018, winning a by-election in the seat of Batman. In 2019, she was elected to the new seat of Cooper.


Before parliament, Kearney was the President of the Australian Council of Trade Unions, and has a background in nursing. She was also the Federal Secretary of the Australian Nursing Federation.


Kearney is now the Shadow Assistant Minister for Health and Ageing.

She says she is interested in secure jobs, aged care, early childhood education, climate action, respectful policy for asylum seekers and just for First Nations people.
