Giz Watson
Giz Watson is the Greens candidate for the Liberal-held seat of O’Connor.
Watson was elected to the Western Australian parliament in 1996 with the Greens, and was reelected in 2001, 2005 and 2008. She was the first openly lesbian parliamentarian in Australia, and has been a long-time social justice and environment advocate.
She unsuccessfully ran as a WA Senate candidate for the Greens in the 2019 federal election.
Watson says she is passionate about climate action, and maintaining the health of Western Australia’s native forests and woodlands, and will fight for an end to logging, prescribed brining and bauxite mining.
