Gladys Liu is the current Liberal member for the seat of Chisholm.


She was first elected to parliament in 2019, becoming the first ethnically Chinese woman ever elected to the House of Representatives.


Liu has lived in Melbourne since 1985, arriving to study speech pathology at La Trobe University after leaving her birthplace of Hong Kong.

She has been the co-owner of two restaurants and has run her own speech pathology practice. Liu has also been an advisor to the Victorian politician Ted Baillieu. She has also been an advocate for people with hearing loss.


She is standing for re-election on the Coalition government’s policy platform.
