Justine Elliot is the current Labor member in the seat of Richmond, located on the NSW North Coast.


Elliot lives in Tweed Heads, and was first elected to federal parliament in 2004.


During the Gillard and Rudd Labor governments, Elliot served as Minister for Ageing, and as parliamentary secretary.

She is currently Chair of the Federal Parliamentary Labor Party’s Country Caucus Committee, and Chair of the Protecting Pensioners Taskforce.


Before politics, Elliot was a police officer, and worked as a youth justice convenor with the NSW Department of Juvenile Justice.


She is standing for re-election on the Labor Party’s policy platform, and says she is interested in keeping the North Coast area free of gas fields.
