Kay Nankervis

The former ABC and SBS journalist, who has spent the past two decades lecturing in journalism at Charles Sturt University, is also an Australian actor and playwright.

Nankervis kicked off her campaign in March with the announcement of funding for one million homes, including 750,000 in public housing.

The Bathurst local, whose partner is in local government (Bathurst Councillor John Fry), will focus on treaty and justice for First Nations people, climate action, fully funded Medicare and NDIS and fully funded public education and health care for all Australians.

While Nankervis has been a strong Nationals seat for the past 15 years, Nankervis believes local young people and their concerns about climate change might change the direction of politics in the area.
