Kristy McBain is the current member for the Labor-held seat of Eden-Monaro.

The trained lawyer worked throughout NSW and Canberra before turning her attention to local government. She was a Bega Valley shire councilor from 2016 and mayor from 2016-2020. In 2020 she became the first woman to represent the division in federal parliament. McBain is passionate about building training opportunities and job security for members of her electorate, many of whom have been impacted by natural disasters in recent years.

As the first member of her family to attend university, McBain believes that all children should have the opportunity to access higher education. She lives in Tura beach with her husband and three young children.
