Maria Vamvakinou
Maria Vamvakinou is the current Labor member for the seat of Calwell.
Vamvakinou became the first Greek-born woman to serve in Australia’s federal parliament when she was elected in 2001. She has held the seat of Calwell for over 20 years.
She is a former school teacher, has policy interest in education, and is an advocate for multiculturalism.
She says she is standing for re-election to continue to be a voice for multicultural Australia and for policies that promote innovation, nation-building and Australia’s economic growth.
