Natalie Hanna

Natalie Hanna

Seat: Banks
Party: Greens
Natalie Hanna is the Greens candidate for the Liberal-held seat of Banks.

The Georges River local says her main driver for entering politics is the concern she holds for her children’s future if climate action is not made a priority.

Hanna says her work as a geophysicist across the mining, construction, transport, energy and water sectors has proven to her that Australia does have the technology to run a low-carbon economy, however, “we are lacking the political will” to make it a reality.

She believes her electorate – which has never elected a female representative – would benefit from greater diversity and lived experience in its leaders.

In addition to climate change, free education and childcare are key focuses of her campaign.

For Hanna, her struggle to find access to childcare for her young children was a huge challenge in re-entering the workforce.

It’s something that is hindering women’s workforce participation and something that needs to be fixed, Hanna says.
