While the northern beaches region has historically been considered a Liberal Party stronghold, independent candidate, Dr Sophie Scamps, has shaken things up in seat by announcing her plans to run.
A UComms automated telephone poll of Mackellar residents held in April (commissioned by Scamps) found that Goodman held 18 percent of the first preference vote (35 percent to current Liberal member, Jason Falinski and 23 percent to Dr Scamps).
Goodman also has plans to change how things are done in Mackellar.
The Avalon Beach local is keen to focus on preserving the environment – something that is an important part of her volunteer work as a wildlife carer.
Improving domestic and family violence services and better health care are also on her agenda.
She is passionate about well-funded local schools and more affordable childcare.
