Rachael Jacobs

Rachael Jacobs

Seat: Grayndler
Party: Greens
Rachael Jacobs is the Greens candidate for Grayndler, a seat held by the Labor Party for its entire existence and currently led by Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese.

Jacobs believes it is time to shake up what she describes as the “pale male and stale” state of Australian politics.

A woman of colour, she is an academic, artist and community activist.

Jacobs is a lecturer in creative arts education at Western Sydney University and a former secondary teacher in performing arts and music.

The writer and columnist runs her own intercultural dance school and is the founding member of Teachers for Refugees.

Equality for refugees is a key policy area for Jacobs, as is housing affordability, climate change action, LGBTQI+ rights and reform for aged care and childcare.
