Susan Templeman
The former journalist and small business owner has held her position, in what has been identified as Australia’s most marginal seat, since 2016.
During that time the region has been devastated by severe bushfires and floods.
The mother of two and her husband lost their own home in the 2013 bushfires and have since rebuilt on the same site.
In 2019 Templeman beat her Liberal opponent Sarah Richards by just 371 – a result that took more than two weeks to determine.
Templeman, who has called the Blue Mountains home for more than 25 years, says she is dedicated to fighting for her community and investing in education, mental health, aged care and economic and social justice.
In 2021 she was named as a member of the House Select Committee on Mental Health and Suicide Prevention.
“My daughter, Phoebe’s, experience of mental illness was the reason I went from the world of business into the world of politics,” Templeman says.
