Terri Butler is the currently sitting member in the Labor-held seat of Griffith.


Butler is the shadow minister for the environment and water and has been a member of Griffith since 2014 when she was elected at a by-election caused by the resignation of former prime minister Kevin Rudd. She was re-elected in 2016 and 2019.


Prior to her election to parliament, Butler held a senior position in the Queensland Labor Party branch and holds a tertiary qualification in law, journalism, and economics.

Before politics, she worked as a partner at Maurice Blackburn.


She is standing on Labor’s policy platform and is passionate about secure jobs, universal healthcare, dignity in retirement and climate action.
