Sangeeta Venkatesan has been appointed Chair of RSL LifeCare, becoming the first woman to hold the role.
Venkatesan is currently a director at RSL LifeCare and brings more than 25 years’ experience in the financial services sector to this new role.
She’s been Global Chief Operating Officer, Global Markets FX at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, for more than five years and co-founder and Executive Chairman at Human Financial Pty Ltd for four years.
In addition to co-founding an award-winning superannuation fund, Sangeeta is the President of Women in Banking and Finance and a Director on the Chief Executive Women Board.
For the last month, Venkatesan has been interim Chair and has strengthened the organisation’s governance framework. She’s also implemented strategic purpose within the organisation’s framework during her three years on RSL LifeCare’s board to date.
RSL LifeCare is a charitable company that employs over 3,800 people and delivers aged care, retirement living and veteran services.
“I am honoured to assume the role of chair for this historic organisation, which has proudly served the veteran community for over 110 years,” Venkatesan said.
“Under my leadership, we will continue to prioritise strong governance, sustainable financial growth, and a clear strategic direction, ensuring RSL LifeCare is well-positioned to enrich the lives of veterans and seniors.”
RSL LifeCare chief executive Janet Muir congratulated Venkatesan, saying her appointment “marks an exciting new chapter” for the organisation.
“Her strategic insight and passion for our purpose will drive us forward as we continue to evolve and adapt in an ever-changing landscape. I look forward to working with Sangeeta to ensure veterans and seniors receive the care, dignity and support they deserve,” said Muir.
Venkatesan’s appointment comes after former RSL LifeCare Chair Ewen Crouch resigned last month.
