Are female breadwinners a problem? - Women's Agenda

Are female breadwinners a problem?

Yes, that’s an actual title of a Fox News segment, with the question posed to a panel of “experts” to determine whether there’s a problem with wives out-earning their husbands and if the rise of the alpha female will lead to “big marital problems”

The panel at Fox News were having another go at the May 2013 Pew study that found that in four out of ten US households, the mother is the primary breadwinner.

At the time of the study’s release, the all-male panel decided that America was reaching “crisis point” and declared that something was “going terrible wrong with American society”.

In case the point didn’t hit home hard enough, Fox News and Friends is rehashing the research one year later, just to make sure we know that women are emasculating men by “violating” their “innate” biology.

According to co-host Clayton Morris, “There is some sort of biological innate need for men to be the cavemen. Go out and bring home the dinner. Is it emasculating if we don’t do it?”

Kris Schoels of YoungMarriedChic.com agreed, arguing that “problems can arise” when families do not follow “traditional gender roles.”

Morris then asked Miss New York USA 2013 Joanne Nosuchinsky if she would “lose respect” for a male partner who stayed at home taking care of the kids and doing the laundry.
