At Women’s Agenda, we’re proudly independent and 100 per cent women-owned. We’re a tiny team with ambitions to make an even bigger mark on Australian media and get more people across the issues we cover.
That’s why we’ve just created a new Women’s Agenda Member platform, enabling readers to support our work and gain access to our growing library of The Keynotes, a series of more than 70 videos featuring ‘mini keynotes’ by some of the most intriguing and inspiring women leaders we know.
Our daily news and views content will always be free.
We’ll keep applying a gender lens over the key issues of the day, including across politics, business, climate, technology and, of course, the important conversations and developments around women’s economic security, safety and health.
But our Members will enable us to expand our mission, experiment with new storytelling methods, and focus on expanding our reach and audience.
Going into 2025, I firmly believe the sustainability of an independent news publication like Women’s Agenda (and many others out there too) has never been more important, especially in Australia, which ranks as one of the worst countries globally for media concentration.
There are many challenges ahead.
Disinformation and misinformation is rampant. Social cohesion has dropped to record lows. The climate crisis continues. Global conflict is expanding. Violence against women remains at horrifically high levels, especially for Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander women. And there’s been a global backlash against D&I initiatives.
We’re also gearing up for a second Trump presidency, another Federal election in Australia where a ‘culture war’ appears to be brewing and the continued rise of more extreme parties globally.
We will keep covering these issues and more, bringing in fresh and diverse perspectives and ensuring the impact of such challenges on women and girls are analysed and heard.
More positively, we’re looking forward to extending our coverage on women’s health in 2025, and ramping up how we cover women in business and entrepreneurship. We’ll continue to elevate women’s voices and celebrate achievement and success.
We’ll also be taking a renewed focus on ‘solutions’, seeking to not only cover some of the issues mentioned above, but outline successful solutions and innovative approaches that address such challenges.
Small and independent media publishers are a great asset to media diversity in Australia, delving into stories that may not otherwise be covered, elevating new voices, and examining key issues from the perspective of different population segments. We’re proud to be part of this ecosystem, even despite the continued and threats of financial instability, generative AI, defamation and leaders seeking to stir distrust in media.
Your support can help us sustain through these threats and beyond, establishing a more robust publication always ready to keep across the daily issues impacting all of us.
Become a member here. For a limited time, members can lock in their support for $5 a month (with some additional great options for teams and workplaces). Please get in contact, if you’re seeking any more info.
We’ll also examine where we gift memberships to those who need it, knowing just how hard the cost of living crisis is hurting many people right now.
