Don’t ever let a headhunter, a board or hiring manager tell you they ‘can’t find a woman’ worthy of a leadership position.
It’s simply not true.
Today we’re highlighting 37 such female leaders who’re rising in their industries and ready to become the household leadership names of tomorrow. These are women who have their own unique style of leadership – one that’s inclusive, disruptive and inspires growth.
But what we can also tell you is that there are many, many more out there – while this group was picked by our judging team, there were hundreds and hundreds more nominations of fantastic women, all worthy of being recognized in their own way and all with a story to tell on how they’re changing their own part of the world.
The finalists chosen represent the women best able to demonstrate how they’ve emerged and made an impact over the 12 months from 1 July 2015. They cross a range of industries including tech, government, entrepreneurial, legal, NFP and private sectors, representing a diverse number of companies.
In our ‘Agenda Setter’ category – the one we opened to both established and emerging leaders – we received more than 100 nominations alone, with every one of them deserving of having their story shared (and we intend on making contact to tell more of these). Given the breadth and depth of these nominations, and our publication’s desire to spotlight ‘agenda setters’ every day, we’ve named a record eight finalists in this category.
For now, we’ll be spending the next three months highlighting the work, the ideas, and the achievements of our 37 finalists. The aim of this Awards program is to see more female leaders get the recognition they deserve, to broaden the scope of visible women open for big opportunities and for role modeling the different paths available for success.
We’ll be celebrating female leadership at our luncheon on the 5th October (where we’ll also announce the finalists) along with special guests Marina Go, Layne Beachley and Linda Burney MP.
Check out our 2016 group of finalists in our finalists booklet. Enjoy reading more about them over the coming weeks, and join us in Sydney to celebrate.
