When Hillary Clinton called out the fact Donald Trump has managed to avoid paying taxes for 18 years, Trump couldn’t help but interrupt.
“Such a nasty woman” he said.
Clinton continued with her statement regardless, later she told reporters she just “didn’t pay attention” to it.
Perhaps she was still stunned by Trump’s comment made moments earlier during the third presidential debate, that “nobody has more respect for women than I do,”.
Still, Trump should have know better than to use such a gendered remark, no matter how bitter and unfair it is that anyone should question his business decisions. It’s the kind of comment that belittles and attacks women in all areas of life every day.
But unfortunately for Trump, it merely created a new slogan to be used against him.
Women have taken up the ‘such a nasty woman’ comment as their own.
It’s become a war-cry for ‘getting shit done’, for making a statement, and for expressing your personality and power. T-shirts and other merchandise have been created, and are already being sold on Etsy. Memes designed. Thousands of social media posts published, and even a new web-page at the URL nastywomengetshitdone.com, which points to Clinton’s campaign page.
Nasty woman or nasty man? Slate maintains this excellent list of all the sexual assault allegations made against Trump.
