Israeli missile hits Iran state TV studios during live broadcast

studio

An Iranian state news presenter in Tehran was delivering the news live on Monday when the television building she was inside was hit in an Israeli attack

The news station studio of Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) was struck while the presenter was live on TV when the blast hit, forcing her to run off-camera as dust and debris appeared around her.

Shortly before the explosion occurred, the presenter described hearing “the sound of aggression against the homeland” around her as the studio began filling with dust.

Off-screen, cries of “Allahu Akbar” (“God is greatest”) could be heard before the broadcast abruptly switched to prerecorded programming. Shortly after, live broadcast resumed.

Iranian state media has shared a video of the incident, which shows the panicked reaction of the female news presenter.

Iranian’s foreign ministry spokesperson has since described the attacks as a “wicked act” and a “war crime” and called on the UN to take action.

The latest attacks come as Israeli strikes target a series of nuclear facilities and missile sites in Iran, in what Tehran has described as a “declaration of war”.

Last Friday, Israel launched a surprise attack on major targets in Iran, saying it was targeting Iran’s nuclear and military facilities, including Natanz, the country’s main nuclear enrichment facility. According to the Iranian Ministry of Health and Medical Education, the attacks have killed at least 224 people in Iran, including top Iranian generals and military commanders and civilians.

In Israel, 24 people have been killed so far by Iran’s missile attacks, all of them civilians.

On Tuesday, United States President Donald Trump urged residents of Tehran to evacuate.

“Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account. “Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon.”
