A man has been arrested in New South Wales after a missing woman was found dead at a property in Buccan, south of Brisbane.
The 46-year-old woman’s body was found at the property when police conducted a welfare check around 2.30am on Monday. The woman had been reported missing.
Police said the woman had “sustained injuries” and there was no one else at the property. A crime scene was declared and police are waiting on results of a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of the woman’s death.
Police later arrested the woman’s client, a 36-year-old Buccan man, in Kempsey, NSW, after a high speed police chase.
Acting Detective Inspector Justin Anderson said investigations had led them to believe the deceased woman was the man’s carer.
She was last seen at around 7pm on Saturday after dropping a relative off at a house in The Gap.
No charges have yet been laid over the woman’s death.
The man was refused bail and is expected to face court on Tuesday in NSW.
Inspector Justin Anderson confirmed the homicide squad was assisting the investigation.
“As with any of these investigations, a standard part would be to interview any person that’s associated with the residence where this lady was found deceased,” he told the media.
