Marina Go has been appointed as the new Chair of the 30%+ Club Australia, replacing outgoing Chair Nicola Wakefield Evans.

The 30%+ Club Australia is an organisation that campaigns to boost women’s representation on boards and in C-suite levels at Australia’s largest companies.

Go comes to the role of Chair with a distinguished record of corporate and advocacy leadership across a three decade career in the media industry, sport administration and business governance.

A co-founder of Women’s Agenda, Go is an experienced chair and non-executive director and a long-standing advocate for women and culturally diverse people.

She is the Chair of Adore Beauty, a Non-Executive Director of Metcash, Southern Cross Media Group and Transurban, Chair of the National Foundation for Australia-China Relations Advisory Board, and National Director of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Nicola Wakefield Evans leaves the role of Chair at the 30%+ Club Australia after seven years.

“We’ve made significant progress in Australia to date in increasing the number of female directors on our largest boards, but there is more to do to embed 30% as a minimum for female directors, particularly in the ASX 300, to increase the number of women in senior executive roles and to champion broader diversity,” Wakefield Evans said.

“I’m excited to see the role pass to Marina, who has long championed diversity in leadership and brings deep experience and credibility to the next phase of our work.”

The latest figures show the ASX 200 now has more than 38 per cent female directorships and the ASX 300 has 37.5 per cent. The ASX 100 is now over 39 per cent women on boards.

Go said it is an honour to become Chair at such a pivotal time for the 30%+ Club Australia.

“The work Nicola and the broader Club have done over the past decade has shifted the national conversation and helped drive real change,” Go said.

“But there’s still more to do – particularly when it comes to strengthening and further diversifying the talent pool at every level and creating cultures where women at every level can thrive.

“I’m committed to building on the strong foundations already in place and keeping up the momentum of female board appointments, as well as increasing opportunities for women to lead boards in the future.”
