Media Workshop: How to Get Heard

If you regularly read Women’s Agenda you’ll know that we want to see more women quoted in the media.

Now instead of just advocating for media outlets to take steps to improve the diversity of their sources, we also want to help from the other side — by enabling more women to master their media message and communicate their best work.

So we’ve launched the first in what (we hope) will be a series of two-hour workshops with former Seven News Reporter Andrea Clarke.

Impressed by Andrea’s ability to transform the confidence levels of women through her coaching programs, as well as her successful career as an international correspondent, we know she can help you learn the skills needed for mastering your media message and communicating your best work.

We’ll start in Sydney on July 26 from 6pm. The workshop’s limited to around 40 participants so get in and grab your ticket early.

The workshop’s also a great opportunity to meet other like-minded women, and kickstart some new habits for ensuring you get heard.

The workshop will cover:

* The changing media landscape, and where you fit in
* Leveraging untapped opportunities in the media
* How to organise your thoughts and think on your feet when dealing with journalists
* Driving an interview with compelling facts and a clear message
* Speaking (and writing) with authority

About the facilitator: Andrea Clarke

Based in Washington D.C. for most of her career as a television news reporter, Andrea covered major news events for Al Jazeera English, the Pentagon Channel and Reuters, including the US presidential election and Hurricane Katrina. She also worked across the international non-profit arena, working on programs to re-build Iraq, Afghanistan and Georgia – before leading the communication campaign for the Save Darfur advocacy movement to stop the genocide in Sudan. A regular commentator on Sky Business News and The Australian Newspaper, Andrea is emerging as a raw and authentic voice supporting the professional development of people across corporate Australia.

This workshop is proudly presented by Women’s Agenda to help more women get heard. Publisher Angela Priestley will introduce Andrea and offer additional insights into working with the media.
