Meghan Markle’s new podcast “Archetypes” has beaten Joe Rogan’s “The Joe Rogan Experience” to the number one spot on Spotify’s US charts.

Two days after releasing the first episode of her new podcast featuring guest Serena Williams, Markle dethroned Rogan from the coveted number one spot.

The Duchess of Sussex’s podcast explores issues relating to women’s empowerment, dissecting “the labels that try to hold women back”. In the first episode titled “The Misconceptions of Ambition,” she talked to 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams about the double standards women face when they are labelled “ambitious”. It also featured gender in the workplace expert, Dr Laura Kray.

The first episode of “Archetypes” also outperformed the Game of Thrones podcast based on the new spin-off “House of the Dragon” that recently premiered.

Markle’s podcast now holds the number one spot not only in the US, but also in the UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.

Markle’s rise to the number one spot on the Spotify charts marks the end of Joe Rogan’s steady hold on the top spot, a position he’s consistently held since Spotify secured the exclusive rights to “The Joe Rogan Experience” in 2020.

Next week’s episode of “Archetypes” will feature an interview between Markle and Mariah Carey.

Earlier this year, Markle’s production company Archewell Audio, co-owned by Prince Harry, issued a statement of concern relating to the spread of misinformation on COVID-19 on Spotify through podcasts like Rogan’s.

“Since the inception of Archewell, we have worked to address the real-time global misinformation crisis. Hundreds of millions of people are affected by the serious harms of rampant mis – and disinformation every day,” the statement read.

“Last April, our co-founders began expressing concerns to our partners at Spotify about the all too real consequences of COVID-19 misinformation on its platform.

“We have continued to express our concerns to Spotify to ensure changes to its platform are made to help address this public health crisis. We look to Spotify to meet this moment and are committed to continuing our work together as it does.”
