The first trailer to Melania Trump’s documentary has dropped, with the First Lady declaring the 20 days of her life covered by the filmmakers mark a “defining moment” that warrants “uncompromising craftsmanship.”
The film is based on the First Lady’s experiences in the days up to the 2025 inauguration, with filmmakers given “unprecedented access” and exclusive footage, “capturing critical meetings, private conversations, and never-before-seen environments.”
Amazon reportedly paid US$40 million for the right to produce the three-part docuseries, to be released at the end of January. The announcement came just months after Jeff Bezos moved to pull a written but unpublished Washington Post editorial endorsing Kamala Harris in the lead-up to the 2024 presidential election.
The series was made by the disgraced director Brett Ratner, who six women accused of sexual misconduct in 2017. The women, including actors Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge, with the latter claiming she was forced to perform oral sex on the director. Munn alleges Ratner masturbated in front of her while they were both in his trailer. Ratner denies the allegations.
Ratner moved to Israel in 2023 and is a close friend of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The First Lady released the trailer to Fox News first. She said in an interview that the series “constitutes a rare and defining moment – one that warrants meticulous care, integrity, and uncompromising craftsmanship.”
The trailer features Melania in meetings with the President, on private jets, and wearing several different designer dresses.
It opens with Melania walking into Trump’s inauguration wearing the unforgettable black hat. She says to the camera, just as the doors are opening, “Here we go again.”
“Everyone wants to know, so here it is,” Melania says in the trailer.
The audience is then invited to, “Witness history in the making”.
The trailer also features Melania calling Trump and saying, “Hi, Mr President,” as he answers.
He immediately asks, “Did you watch?”
Melania responds, “I did not. I will see it on the news.”
Meanwhile, director Brett Ratner will soon be working on a fourth film in the Rush Hour Series, after President Trump intervened to secure financing for the additional instalment. The film will be distributed by the Larry Ellison-backed Paramount, with Ellison being a good friend of the president. Trump reportedly really loved the first three Rush Hour films.
