No confirmation on Hillary ’16, but there’s a book on the way

For those wondering how Hillary Clinton’s been occupying her time since stepping down as US Secretary of State earlier this year, here’s your answer: in-between dodging intense scrutiny of a potential presidential run and speaking gigs, Clinton’s been penning her fifth book.

But those keen to hear Clinton’s own “leaning in” tips for getting ahead in the workplace will have to sit tight for now. According to a statement from publishers Simon & Schuster, the book will focus on Clinton’s views on US foreign policy and its role in the world.

According to the publisher, Clinton’s signature issue on human rights and the role of women and girls in building a global economy will feature heavily. The book will also address key global events during Clinton’s tenure, including the Arab Spring uprisings and the killing of Osama Bin Laden.

The as-yet-untitled book will “use a number of dramatic moments during Secretary Clinton’s tenure as Secretary of State to frame her thoughts about the recent history of U.S. foreign policy and the urgent, ongoing need for American leadership in a changing world,” Simon and Schuster said in a statement.

The book is scheduled for a tentative June 2014 release, with some speculating that a promotional book tour coinciding with US mid-term elections could blend with Clinton’s efforts to recapture Democratic support for the 2016 presidential elections.
