Woman breaks Guinness World Records for most pull-ups

‘Strength doesn’t depend on gender’: Xie Ting did 44 pull-ups in one minute, breaking record

A 22-year old woman from China has broken the world record for most number of pull-ups by a woman in one minute, setting an incredible record of 44.

Xie Ting, a fitness content creator, was awarded a Guinness World Records certificate for her achievement, breaking the previous record of 39 pull-ups in one minute which was set by American Inga Simning in 2022.

The young athlete has been training consistently for a number of years, documenting her fitness regime online and garnering hundreds of thousands of followers. According to Guinness World Records, Xie had not initially sought to break the world record for the highest number of pull-ups.

Once she applied to set a new world record, she worked to fine-tune her technique, finally setting the record of 44 pull-ups on a cold day in Beijing.

Speaking to a reporter after her record, Xie said her gender has never been a factor in her fitness goals.

“I’ve never thought there’s any difference between men and women in sport,” she said. “Strength doesn’t depend on gender.”

“Exercise is not just about improving physical fitness; it’s about strengthening our inner selves.”

Xie, who said she does not see herself as a “female athlete” is constantly motivated to improve her fitness, already looking towards the future to accomplish an even higher number of pull-ups.

“Even though I broke the record, I feel there’s still room for improvement,” she added. “Next time, I’ll go for an even higher score.”
