How to make 2013 your career year

Feeling a little stale in your current job? Think your skills could be better utilised elsewhere?

Perhaps you know you’re worth a larger salary, deserve a big promotion, or would be much happier working in a field you’re actually passionate about.

You’re not alone.

Given it’s just a week into the new year, we know now is the time when many women reflect on their careers and think about what they really want to get out of the next 12 months. This is a time of goal setting, planning and starting on the changes that need to be made in order to make the next career move.

So to help you get what you want out of 2013, we’ve spoken to a range of experts to put together a special 10-day series: 10 Days to a New Career.

Each day, we’ll be delivering new advice from leading career coaches on what you should be doing to put yourself in the best position possible for a career change. The idea is that by setting aside half an hour or so a day, reading the advice and taking on the “homework” we’ll be issuing, you can be well on your way to achieving your 2013 career goals in just 10 working days.

We kick off the series by considering the need for goal setting, and how you can go about establishing deadlines and outlining exactly what you want to achieve.

Tomorrow, we’ll follow up with some advice on researching potential employers and opportunities.

So grab a notebook, find some alone time, and get busy making 2013 your career year.
