Australian actor Milly Alcock will star in an upcoming Game of Thrones prequel series, and has been depicted at the centre of the series most recent poster.

The 22-year-old will appear in HBO’s House of the Dragon and has been cast as a young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.

Alcock was first revealed as a cast member in House of Dragon last year, but there have not been many details revealed about details of the story yet. The poster gives the impression she will take on a central role in the series, due to begin in August, 2022.

Alcock currently stars in Foxtel’s drama series Upright, alongside Tim Minchin. She has also starred in Australian crime thriller series, Reckoning, as well as the Australian series Gloaming.

House of the Dragon is based on Game of Throne’s author George R.R. Martin’s book Fire and Blood. It is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House of Targaryen.

The initial trailer for the series was released in October last year. It has also just been announced that Foxtel will premiere House of the Dragon in 4K Ultra HD, with enhanced Dolby Digital sound.

“We’re thrilled to be the exclusive broadcaster of House of The Dragon in 4K Ultra HD in Australia, putting fans right in the action with the most intense and immersive viewing experience available,” said Hilary Perchard, chief customer, marketing and revenue officer at Foxtel.

Fellow Australian actor and Packed to the Rafters star Ryan Corr will also star in House of the Dragon. It will premiere on Monday, August 22.
