We’ve all seen those life hacks floating around the internet — like pressing your tongue against the top of your mouth to stop a brain freeze and more crazy could-be-facts.
And while these hacks are very entertaining, I’m far more interested in beauty hacks. In other words — how to make your beauty life easier. Here are some of the best beauty hacks I found and a few of my own, used on a weekly basis.
Moisturiser as a hair serum
If your hair is frizzing up, rub a little body moisturiser or oil through your hands and gently swipe down over the two bottom thirds of your hair (just avoid the roots, so you don’t create extra oil). It’ll work the same as a serum to add moisture and smooth fly-aways down. Try the PureTAN Extra Virgin 100% Coconut Oil.
Rubber band for the perfect French tip
Struggle to paint the perfect French tip? Rather than going free-hand, tie or hold a rubber band around the tip of your nail and paint the section partitioned off at the tip — the band will create a nice, even line. Easy!
Use a tissue and translucent powder to set lipstick
Get longer lasting lipstick and a slightly matte finish by placing a tissue (or one half if two ply) over lipstick, then dusting a translucent powder over the tissue covering your pout. The tissue will avoid too much powder on your lips, and will just let a fine dusting through. Try the MeMeMe Translucent Flawless Pressed Face Powder.
Check your makeup in the car
If the lighting in your bathroom is less than great, always flip down your mirror and check your makeup in the car. It’ll give you the best light possible and you can blend in over-applied bronzer or blush. Another handy auto-tip is to keep a set of tweezers in your glove box. The great light and mirrors in the car make it the perfect place to seek and remove any hairs that need tweezing, stat! I keep a set of tweezerman tweezers with my spare change for parking.
Shave with conditioner
If you find yourself out of body wash, or are need to shave fast at your bf’s house and don’t want to use the drying brand of soap he insists on using, reach for conditioner to shave legs with instead. It’ll make for an easy shave, and will even actually soften your hairs for a smoother de-fuzzing process. Even better if it’s a soothing and calming formulation, like the Evo Calming Conditioner.
Apply blush to the right part of your cheeks every time
Apply blush on two fingers widths away from nose, on the apples of your cheeks. It’ll help give you the right ‘template’ to apply with, and will mean an even application on either side of your gorgeous face! Try the Inika Mineral Blusher in Peachy Keen, for something a little different compared to your regular pinks (hint: looks lovely with lightly bronzed summer skin – faux though, to be sure).
