Samantha Mostyn AO has been appointed as the next governor-general of Australia, assuming her role on 1 July 2024.

There is still much about these reports that remains unclear – but it is inappropriate for a government to act with secrecy on such matters.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has named Cindy Kiro as the next governor-general of New Zealand, becoming the first Māori woman to take the role and declaring she will aim to inspire young wāhine from the “very top”.
